Bruce Anstey battling tumours on lung and spine
Bruce Anstey’s partner Anny Ramsey has stated that Anstey is quite ill with tumours in his lungs and a tumour on his spine.
Anstey won a battle against testicular cancer some years ago but this latest discovery seems much more sinister.
Even if pending treatments left him with enough strength to race TT 2018 a blood clot currently on his lung would make long distance air travel very hazardous. Thinning agents are generally used to help clear clots, but then should Anstey face an injury from an accident while such agents might remain in his blood it would obviously seriously heighten the risks from any injury.
Anny said that she very much doubts that Bruce will see any racing this year but that they have not ruled that out completely.
All race fans will be hoping that Anstey can get on top of this battle and be again seen celebrating success on the road race circuit and hopefully adding to his dozen strong tally of TT victories.
With John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson also walking wounded and perhaps even in doubt for TT 2018 this is another major blow to the annual highlight of the Real Road Racing season.
