Craig McMartin, continued his defence of his 2005 Pro Twins Championship title at MALLALA last weekend maintaining his overall lead of the 06 competition. On the 3rd and 4th June Craig McMartin and the Gibson Freight Racing Team were back on the grid at MALLALA MOTORSPORTS PARK in South Australia, to defend Craig’s 05 Pro Twins Championship title. Craig continues to lead the current championship table after another successful weekend of racing, netting three second places, battling against Mick Kelly for top position over the weekend.

“It was a little bit disappointing this meeting not to pick up a first place in any of the three races, we were so close against Mick Kelly, especially in the second race. I was only 0.18 seconds behind on the finish line, and I had him up to that point.” Said McMartin.

“I’m really happy with how the 749R is performing though, as always we are looking forward to our next round. Queensland Raceway isn’t quite as far from home, so that will help make our preparations easier. With all that in mind, I’m sure we can better our results from Mallala.” Continued Craig.

After a positive round over in Wanneroo, Craig and the Gibson Freight Racing Team were ready for another fast and hectic weekend, with the trip across to Adelaide. Assisting Craig in Mallala were head technicians, Shaun Sutcliffe of NF Importers and George Tamine of Ducati Sydney. Both have been assisting Craig since his 06 campaign commenced at Eastern Creek in April.

The Team would once again like to thank Gibson Freight and Shell Advance, for all their support as the key sponsors to Craig’s campaign for 2006. Craig McMartin leads the Pro Twins Championship after Round Three at Mallala Motorsports Park by 30 points. His next race will be at Queensland Raceway for the fourth round of the Pro Twins Championship on the 8th and 9th July.

Unfortunately due to technical difficulties and lack of preparation time, McMartin was unable to make a start in Supersport races at Mallala, his rank is 24th with 11 points. “Due to issues that were beyond our control, we weren’t able to make a start at either Mallala or Wanneroo. Technical issues and distance traveled to get to these races has also restricted our time to prepare for these races. We are continuing our focus on the Twins rounds, however for the fourth round in July, we hope to come out with a positive result in the Supersport class.” Craig said.

Craig McMartin and the Gibson Freight Racing Team will be competing in the Pro Twins Championship and the Supersport Championship at Queensland Raceway 8th and 9th July.
