2014 Bulk Nutrients Official Australian Elite Sidecar Cross titles

Although National level unlimited MX Sidecar racing was in its heyday throughout the 70’s – 80’s much like there solo brothers with start lines stacked 3 rows deep, things change in modern times and they haven’t been seen as regularly across the country as many fans would like, horsham hosting the 2014 national title is offering fans the opportunity to again see the elite sidecars once again right on there doorstep.

Elite Seeded Sidecar Motocross team passenger Brian Anthony who has just returned from competing in Europe to race these titles said, “Racing in Europe where crowds are 5 deep, air horns blaring, fanatical cheering with an atmosphere akin to a Euro soccer match is totally mental and Sure we dont expect to be racing in front of that kind of crowd here at home, but we know for sure we will be racing up against some of the best.

“The top five teams in Australia right now are super competitive and you probably cant pick between them. Just one slip up on the weekend in these 5x 15 minute motos and your title chances could be shot that easy.” “You realise how awesome this sport is when your risking it all, lap after lap. We just can cant wait for these gates to drop!”

The sidecar motocross transition period from heavy weight outfits such as wasp frames fitted with big road going 4 strokes, to the next generation light weight Japanese bikes like the CR500 was a game changer in the mid 80’s.

During the next few decades sidecars evolved into many variations, the light weight specialised mono shock frames have now become the standard, although the riders still to and fro over running Monster big bore 690cc+ four strokes or the Animal 700cc+ Two strokes, remember this title is limited to the Nation’s 20 Elite Riders and the class is an unlimited capacity, so let’s wait and see what the weapon of choice is in 2014 !

Kerry Marsh, promoter of the sidecar program went on to say, “The Official MA ( Motorcycling Australia) elite sidecar titles will be show cased alongside a powerful national championship Quad program over the weekend. Negotiations with all stakeholders received overwhelming support for the concepts when put forward earlier in the year. Both disciplines saw benefit in mutually raising the bar of competition standards and of course creating an exciting combination of racing at a national venue, for those hard core fans who love nothing more than to feel the ground Rumble, just get there”
