2019 Kawasaki ZX-6R
Kawasaki has uprated their 636cc ZX-6R for 2019 with a swag of new features to add more appeal to the machine for the new model year.
On the styling front, fresh new bodywork sees the Ninja wear a new twin LED front end and cowling.
The seat is also changed for 2019 as is the tail section.
With ram-air Kawasaki claim a peak power figure of 134 horsepower at 13,500 rpm from the 12.9:1 compression motor which is now Euro4 compliant.
Peak torque is 71 Nm at 11,000 rpm and is matched to shorter overall gearing (one less tooth on the front), to provide a greater sensation of acceleration.
A slipper clutch is stock fitment while the suite of standard electronic rider aids include KTRC traction control.
Kawasaki’s intelligent anti-lock braking system (KIBS) plus the convenience of power modes selection and a shift-light.
The ZX-6R now gets a quickshifter and updated instruments while the clutch lever is now five-position span adjustable.
The chassis is suspended by Showa BFF separate function front forks and Kawasaki promise sporty but comfortable ergonomics.
Four-piston Nissin monobloc calipers and 310 mm front disc rotors take care of the stopping duties with pressure controlled via a radial master cylinder.
A revised seat-lock mechanism releases the front seat instead of the rear seat, enabling easy access to the battery.
Pre-wiring for a DC power source behind the cockpit’s inner fairing offers a convenient power supply for accessories.
An Öhlins steering damper is an optional extra, as are axle sliders and a colour coded pillion seat cover.
