Yamaha XSR900

Yamaha love paying homage to their famous models of yesteryear, as we have seen recently with the tuning fork brands 60th anniversary celebrations, and the myriad of 60th anniversary colour schemes that have featured across many models in the eclectic Yamaha motorcycle catalogue.
One of the biggest success stories in recent years from Yamaha has been the MT-09. Â It’s ripping three-cylinder powerplant brought a new level of angry to the sub-litre category, and at a very competitive price to boot. Â That engine was way too engaging not to find its way into numerous other models and overnight in Milan Yamaha announced the XSR900.
While the MT-09 was a contemporary look on the modern nakedbike scene, the XSR900 harks back to 1980s styling cues. Albeit with all the latest technology that makes modern motorcycling so much more exciting, safe, reliable and convenient.
With it’s 14-litre fuel tank full and the machine ready to roll, Yamaha claim the XSR900 tips the scales at 195kg.
The 2016 Yamaha XSR900 is expected to be on sale in Australia sometime towards the end of the first quarter, 2016.
MCNews.com.au understands that Yamaha Australia are likely to have the new XSR900 on display at the Sydney Motorcycle Show.

Earlier this year Yamaha XSR700, a twin-cylinder model that paid homage to the iconic Yamaha XS650, in Milan overnight Yamaha introduced the new triple-cylinder XSR900 to further add to Yamaha’s burgeoning sport-heritage range.
