—Â KTM to enter scooter market
—Â Electric scooting with KTM
KTM have announced that the concept study E-SPEED will advance to a series project.
In 2015 the fascinating scooter will follow the sporty offroad bike Freeride E, which is to be available in the coming year at all official KTM dealers in Europe.
Just four weeks after the first presentation of KTM’s E-Scooter Studio at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, the E-SPEED made its first appearance in Europe when it was shown to the domestic market at the bike-austria Exhibition – in Tulln, Austria. And with good reason.
Harald Plöckinger (KTM Executive Board Member for Production and Business Development): “We believe in the electro-mobility on two wheels. Because offroad sport is our core area, we have developed an E-Crosser, the Freeride E., but we are also convinced that urban mobility can succeed in urban areas. Because of the very positive feedback following the Tokyo presentation, we have decided to transfer the results from the development of the E-Cross bike also into the road segment. The E-SPEED is our interpretation of emission-free propulsion for city use, but without compromising on the design and sportiness of our KTM genes! “
The goal is to develop the E-SPEED concept study into a serial production model by 2015. Literally speaking, KTM have spent a lot of energy in developing a completely new drive system for the Freeride E. Now this can also be utilized for the scooter that is designed to have a very sporty look.
At present the availability for both the Freeride E and E-Speed has not been confirmed for Australia or New Zealand.
