Moss Institute reflects on season 2012
Another successful season draws to a close for the Moss Institute.
With another year of motocross and supercross season coming to a conclusion, the Moss institute as once again had great results throughout 2012.
The Institutes four leading senior riders all found success on the race track during this year with Matt & Jake Moss, Kale Makeham and Meghan Rutledge producing competition leading form and speed on numerous occasions here in Australian and for Matt Moss & Meg Rutledge also overseas.
Rutledge on top of winning her second straight Australian Women’s Motocross Championship, was able to have world wide success, with overall podium performances in the Women’s AMA Championship which included a moto win against some of the toughest competition in the world.
Not content with her AMA Success Rutledge then headed over to the final round of he FIM world championship to test her skills against the World Championships best talent and again come up trumps, picking up an overall podium result after leading all but a handful of laps of the opening moto in Germany.
Rutledge once again competed in the under 19s class of the Australian supercross championship as the only female competitor, and once again proved she could take it up to the class full of young men, constantly pushing close to the top ten.
“I Cant thank Greg enough, my 2012 supercross season went well would of liked some better results but the results from this year will make me push harder to archive bigger and better goals for 2013.” Rutledge stated.
Kale Makeham who has been with the Moss Institute for the past five years, after first coming under the guidance of Greg Moss as a club junior enduro rider had his best season to date in 2012.
With impressive results during the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals championship which included moto wins, podium performances and fastest qualifying times, Makeham then took his racing to the next level during the supercross season, when he took his KTM 250 two stroke to the Championship win in the Terex Australian Supercross championship in the the under 19s class.
With a series scorecard that read 2-5-1-1, Makeham was able to our score all his opposition to claim his first senior Australian Championship.
“I’ve always dreamt of being a champion and to finally achieve that it almost doesn’t feel real, I’ve worked really hard to get to this point.” Makeham stated.
“I can’t wait to see what the future brings.” he added.
“I can’t thank Greg enough for all his help over the past five years and its good to finally celebrate a win together” he concluded.
The teams most senior rider, Jake Moss spent the early part of 2012 coming to grips with being part of a privateer team with mixed results during the Australian motocross championships.
Jake Moss was able to finish the motocross season as the leading privateer and in so picked up the Andrew McFarlane Privateer Cup which was and emotional achievement for Jake who had spent a lot of time with McFarlane during his stint in the United States.
“Dad is by far the best coach I know here or in the USA and i have ridden for 3 pro teams in each Australia and 4 in the USA and to Have fitness expert Dan Reardon and my twin Brother Matt also on board with Moss Institute I can only see things getting even better.” Jake stated.
Greg Moss has been impressed and proud of what his riders have achieved in 2012, and is looking forward to continuing his support going forward, not only with his four top senior athletes but with all his Moss Institute riders across the country.

“I guess Moss Institute has become the factory breeding ground, Its great to see past riders like Styke, Clout and Mellross who also all spent 5 or more years on the Moss Institute Team attract Team rides and perform so well this season also.” he added.
The Season is not yet over for Moss Institute riders as Meghan Rutledge once again heads overseas to race the Geneva International Supercross which is part of the official Swiss Supercross Championship.
