The title defenders of the European Motoball Championship, that is the German team, lost against their toughest opponents and one of this year’s tournament favorites: Russia, with the result of 6-3.
In the final game of the day, tournament hosts, the Netherlands team, collected a 10-3 win against guests from Ukraine.
On July 27th Ukraine put up a good fight against the French team, but lost by 6-2. It looked like French players were saving their power for their second game of the day, with Russia.
After a tight game tournament hosts Netherlands lost against their opponents from Belarus and reduced their chances to get to the semifinals.
The “Oranje” team created a lot of opportunities but luck was on the other side, so the game ended by 2-3 for Belarus.
Lithuania suffered a 0-5 defeat against title defenders Germany. It was not an easy win, but it looked like Germany already were sure they would play one more game in the day. Lithuania lost their second match in a row.
France versus Russia was a great final match. Both teams played impressive motoball. Spectators saw motorbike clashes and referee cards, and the game ended with the result of 3-3.
The hosting team Netherlands looked fully refreshed after loosing to Belarus and had a big support of local fans, but Germany showed their class and the “Oranje” team suffered the second defeat in a day with the of result 3-7.
The European Motoball competition continues this weekend.Â
Reckon we can combine motorcycling and AFL or Rugby Down Under…?
