Broc Parkes to complete 2016 BSB season with EPayMe Yamaha
Broc Parkes will complete the remainder of the 2016 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season with ePayMe Yamaha alongside his World Endurance commitments, which include the Suzuka 8 Hour, returning to the team after a impressive debut performance at Snetterton in July.
Parkes returns for the next round at Brands Hatch and has a strong history on the Grand Prix circuit, scoring a double MCE BSB podium finish as a wildcard in 2009, and is feeling confident ahead of his return to the Kent track following an appearance for Yamaha in the Suzuka Eight Hour this weekend.
Parkes made his first appearance with the ePayMe Yamaha team at Snetterton, deputising for John Hopkins who was sidelined through injury. The former World Supersport protagonist set a pace that put the team into Superpole for the first time; however he was caught up in a crash on the opening lap that put him out of contention for the two races. Now he is ready to come out fighting next weekend to prove his pace in the championship.
Broc Parkes
“I am really happy to be coming back to the championship with the ePayMe Yamaha team because I feel like we have some unfinished business after Snetterton. I think for me it couldn’t be a better track to come back to, as I have had World Supersport race wins and also podiums in BSB on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
“I feel that I instantly gelled with the team at Snetterton and we had a really good pace throughout free practice and qualifying so I know what we can do, it was just really unfortunate I couldn’t show it in the races as I got taken out on the first lap. I want to come back and prove I am capable of being up there fighting in BSB and I want to gain the respect so I can try and return next season alongside racing in the World Endurance series.”
Team owner Tommy Hill
“We are excited to have Broc back in the team and I believe he really showed what he is capable of achieving with the ePayMe Yamaha at Snetterton. He had a strong start to the weekend and we want to pick up where we left off – battling at the sharp end. We want to step it up for the second part of the season and fingers crossed we can deliver the results we know we are capable of at Brands Hatch.”
