Bryan Staring scores podium on return from injury
Australia’s Bryan Staring celeberated his return to racing with a great second place result on the Agro On-Benjan-Kawasaki at Lausitzring overnight. For 29-year-old Staring the podium was an emotionally charged welcome return to racing.
The Perth born rider suffered massive leg injuries during a motocross training accident in Italy early in the year.  Staring had been in danger of losing the use of the lower half of his leg, thus this was no ordinary return from injury and the result even more poignant due to that fact.

“I am really happy, coming from 19th on the grid to second place. I spent the last five months in Australia on the couch at home with a broken leg. It has been a long, long time since I visited the podium in any category, in any race, in any class, just so happy to have the race I just have.
“This sport has given me such a good time, and such a hard time over the last five years, it has been difficult to see the way forward you know.
“Anyway, for what is going to be my last year in Europe, so happy to have this podium.
“Thanks so much to my team that have kept believing in me, the whole time I have been away at home, all my personal sponsors, everyone in Australia and Italy that have been so good to me over all the years.
“We got lucky with the conditions today, but in the dry we have a long way to go, we lost so many months with the development of the bike, but we will be there at the next round at Magny Cours and we will be strong sooner rather than later, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
Leandro Mercado won the race ahead of Staring and Yamaha’s Russo.
STK1000 will be back on track in two weeks time for the next Round at Magny-Cours.
