Staring to ride with Intermoto Honda World Supersport squad at Donington
Bryan Staring will join Intermoto Czech rider Matthieu Lagrive at Donington in the World Supersport class when the World Superbike Championship reconvenes for the European round of the series on September 7.
Staring has been released from his Yamaha Motor Australia contract to give him the opportunity to strut his stuff on the world stage.
The promising young rider has had a tough season to date, with injury taking its toll, and the Yamaha Racing Team has agreed that his career would benefit through the exposure of racing in the world-class series with sights set on a regular ride in the near future.
Staring will compete with the Yamaha Racing Team as a guest rider for the final two rounds of the Australian Supersport Championship, Symmons Plains and Eastern Creek.
The West Australian rider said he was grateful to the team and Yamaha Motor Australia for allowing him to chase his dream on the world stage.
“I am very fortunate that Yamaha has allowed me the opportunity to ride in the World Supersport championship with another manufacturer, they were under no obligation to release me and the fact that they did shows they are really behind promoting Australian riders to an international level,” said Staring.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time with YRT and am pleased to be able to race with them again at both Symmons Plains and Eastern Creek to round out the year, I am approaching full fitness and have been training hard at various track days to ensure my wrist is up to the task,” he said.
“It’s been a short yet memorable journey and I can’t thank Yamaha enough for their generosity and support at this time.”
Yamaha Motor Australia Managing Director Steven Cotterell said the manufacturer remained committed to its policy of supporting local riders and creating opportunities on a world stage where possible.
“Bryan has been offered a great opportunity to pursue his dream in WSS and we are delighted to have been able to offer him this career springboard,” said Cotterell.
“One more Aussie on the world stage can only be a good thing for our sport and we will watch his progress with interest.”
