HRCA (Honda Rider’s Club of Australia) and HART (Honda Australia Rider Training) are combining forces to introduce a very unique ladies only event.
The program includes one full day of rider training at HART’s Tullamarine, VIC facility followed by a separate (women’s only) full day on the track at Sandown Raceway in Melbourne’s southeast.
No other manufacturer has been able to offer this kind of program before, and interest is proving to be very high.
The idea came about as a result of a number of female members saying they are hesitant to ride with the guys at a track day. HRCA and HART therefore designed both days to be fun and relaxing whilst also offering much needed skill development.
“There is nothing quite like riding on a racetrack to improve confidence,” said HART’s Grant Carr.
“But we were finding a lot of our women students didn’t think they would be ‘good enough’ to participate. There is no prior experience needed to ride at a circuit like Sandown and this is the perfect opportunity for the girls to go that next step by getting more advanced training, and then taking that to the track.”
HART training will be offered on either Friday, March 7 or Sunday, March 30 on provided Honda CB600 Hornets or CB250’s. The course covers topics such as braking, cornering, counter steering, throttle control, low speed, manoeuvring and improving confidence.
Participants can then bring their own bike to Sandown on Saturday April 12 for a morning refresher course followed by “ride at your own pace” 15 minute sessions with HRCA and HART marshals in attendance.
Non HRCA members are also welcome and ladies will be able to test ride a new Honda CBR600RR or CBR1000RR if so desired.
Honda is offering a special low introductory price of only $340 for the two days combined. Those wanting just to participate in the Sandown day (without HART training) can do so for $120 (members), $140 (non members).
