Pure Motorcycling Road Racing fan favourite Guy Martin has also managed to endear himself to cyclists.
Martin rode a custom made bicycle to a top speed of 181km/h, smashing the previous record by almost 50km/h.
Martin was towed to 85km/h before being releasd where he then followed a wind break mounted to a truck driven at speed.
The attempt was featured as part of Martin’s new TV show, “Speed with Guy Martin”.
The 32-yer-old IOM TT motorcycle racer has become a mainstream favourite thanks to his quirky nature and turn of phrase.
The unassuming truck mechanic has become the most unlikely of celebrities, seemingly, throught just being himself in a way that seems, on television at least, so alien and outside of the norm’, that viewers found him a thoroughly appealing and interesting character.
Rarely seen without a cup of tea in hand, the Lincolnshire resident has a number of IOM TT podiums under his belt but is yet to claim the top step on the podium. He did however score a hat-trick of wins at the Ulster GP in 2013.
Stoke-On-Trent bicycle shop proprietor, Jason Rourke, built the 10kg machine from two aluminium frames, it has a single gear and runs on Continental laminated tyres.
