Superbike Masters
Aaron Morris went out and reasserted his dominance of the Superbike Masters category this afternoon though. A 1m36.716 on the FZR1000 about half a lap quicker than the rest of the field.

Superbike Masters Race One
Aaron Morris had set the pace all weekend in the Superbike Masters category throughout practice and qualifying and that form did not desert him in the opening five-lap bout of the weekend late this afternoon at Phillip Island.
Adrian DiGiandomenico got away well when the lights went out but was quicky overhauled by who then went on to take victory by almost seven-seconds over DiGiandomenico while Jason Cullen rounded out the podium.

Supersport
Damon Rees was the only one of the Supersport top contenders to improve his standing in QP2, the Kiwi moving up to third on the combined timesheets but Cru Halliday remained untouchable on top courtesy of his 1m35.570 in QP1.
Tom Toparis will also start from the front row tomorrow, sandwiched between that pair. Callum Spriggs heads row two alongside youngsters Max Croker and Nic Liminton.

Superbike
Ted Collins suffered some sort of mechanical failure at the start of first qualifying this morning but this afternoon it was Kyle Buckley that was left stranded at turn one on the BCperformance Kawasaki. Collins though quickly made amends for his morning disappointment by dropping in a 1m34.014 on his third lap of the second session.
Lachlan Epis’ luckless run continued with a flat tyre halfway through the session.
It wasn’t until that halfway point of the session that Josh Waters, Wayne Maxwell and Troy Herfoss decided to head out on track. Bayliss though had been running plenty of laps, no doubt working on race pace set-up for tomorrow.
Early in the second half of the session Bryan Staring got the BCperformance ZX-10R Kawasaki wound up and shot to the top of the timesheets not only in this second session, but also on combined times. The West Australian the first of the fast boys to show his hand, a 1m32.398.
Wayne Maxwell took his shot at pole with six-minutes left in the session, he hit a bullseye with a 1m32.096, a new fastest ever domestic Superbike lap record around the 4.45 kilometre Phillip Island circuit. The Pharoah of Phillip Island strikes again!
That 1m32.096 surpasses the previous record of 1m32.274 Maxwell himself set here back in 2013 onboard a GSX-R1000 Suzuki.
Wayne Maxwell
“I actually thought that lap was a little untidy and I didn’t know what to expect, I came out of the last turn, looked at the timer and was very surprised. Massive thanks to the boys and we’ve been refining the package to make it better and better. We’ll go back and have a look at the data ahead of tomorrow. Big thanks also to the boys at Elite Roads for the cheque and I’m happy to take it off them for once!”
Shortly after that new lap though it was nearly a Suzuki lap record once again! With two-minutes to go Josh Waters crossed the stripe and stopped the clocks on 1m32.106, missing Maxwell’s time by a frustrating one-hundredth of a second. We suspect though that Waters crashed shortly after setting that lap, but are yet to confirm that suspicion.
Bryan Staring will also start from the front row courtesy of his 1m32.398 while Troy Bayliss will head the second row from Troy Herfoss and Daniel Falzon.
Glenn Allerton heads the third row on his return from injury and will be joined on that row by Matt Walters and his own young teammate Ted Collins.
Arthur Sissis rounded out the top ten on his Penrite Honda supported Fireblade ahead of Mark Chiodo and Glenn Scott.

Sidecar Race One
Taking the victory in the opening race of the Horsell Consulting Round of the 2018 Australian F1 & F2 Sidecar Championship was Boughen / Shorter with Howard Ford / Lee Menzies (California Custom Products, F1 LCR Suzuki 1000) a further 13 seconds back. Mick Alton / Christine Clancy (J&C Contracting, F2 LCR Suzuki 600) were the first of the F2’s, 17.315 seconds off the leaders in third overall.
F1 Sidecars class leaders David Boughen / Robbie Shorter were delighted in their result today winning F1 class and outright for Race One. Boughen sharing; “We tried to get Howard Ford and Lee Menzies to push us hard! We love the fast-flowing corners here at Phillip Island and its hard work on the passengers.”
F2 Sidecars Race winners Mick Alton / Christine Clancy were victorious the F2 class, stating on the podium; “I’m giving away 60 odd horsepower, so I was very surprised when I was able to pass the Western Australians, Graeme Evans and Jarrod Scott. There were some really close moments out there!”
