Take the youngest ever FIM Speedway Grand Prix world champion, a hard-charging multiple X-Games medallist rallycrosser, a dirt oval arena; and what do you get?
Monster Energy brought Perth (WA) raised Tai Woffinden – on his 500cc Jawa speedway bike – and Liam Doran – in his 600bhp turbo charged Citroen DS3 car – to a rain lashed oval to do what they do best.
Commenting on the unique experience, Tai said: “It was great having Liam on the track with me at the same time, he’s a great guy and can seriously drive a car. It was good to get out and cut a few laps together. The video is awesome and I’m stoked that we managed to bring the idea together.”
Liam added: “Drifting through the corners with Tai right up on the door handles of my car was pretty crazy. I’m used going wheel-to-wheel with other rallycross cars, but sharing the same piece of track with a speedway bike was on a different level.
“We were trying to get as close to each other as possible through the corners; but it was tough picking him out through the mud on the windshield and the glare from the green lamps we fitted for night time filming. The final edit is off the hook, and I’m sure people will enjoy it.”
So, tune in, sit tight, and feast your eyes on the ultimate two-wheel meets four-wheel, after-dark shred session.
