Adelaide’s Hudson Pitt will make his Asian Road Racing Championship debut next weekend in Sentul, Indonesia after confirming a deal with Finson Motorsports that will see him team up alongside fellow Australian Supersport rider, Aaron Morris.
Pitt has previously competed in Malaysia, though the opportunity to join the highly popular Asian Road Racing Championship was one that the teenager jumped at. A successful outing on his new Yamaha R6 recently at Mallala has him race ready, with the new ride set to open up further International opportunities for Hudson into the future.
“I’m really excited about racing in Indonesia and joining the remainder of the Asian Road Racing Championship, it’s certainly one step closer towards my goal of full time International racing and it will provide a challenge to come up against some of the best riders in the region,” Pitt said.
The chance to join Finson Motorsport is one that will allow Hudson the opportunity gain further experience and skills at the elite level. Pitt will join Aaron Morris until fellow young gun Michael Blair returns from injury. With the trio all focused on rising through the ranks of road racing, competiveness will be at a premium. Chas Hern who has raced extensively in Asia will be travelling with Pitt to continue their association together and provide advice and guidance.
“In particular I would like to thank Ian Irving and Yamaha for organising the opportunity to race with Finson Motorsports in the Asian Road Racing Championship, I look forward to working with the team and bringing home some big results both in Indonesia and the remaining rounds,” Pitt added.
The event will be the first for Hudson in Indonesia and brings with it not only the need to focus on adapting his riding style for the new Championship, but the chance to experience a new culture. Pitt is understandably excited to learn a new track and add it to his knowledge base for the future.
“I’m looking forward to getting to Indonesia and experiencing the racing there, I believe it will be vastly different to anything I have seen before so that should be interesting. Learning a new bike, a new track and riding on Dunlop tyres for the first time will be a challenge, however I feel I have the right team behind me to bring me up to speed from the beginning,” Pitt concluded.
Round two of the 2014 Asia Road Racing Championship will take place at Sentul, Indonesia from June 13-15.
