17-year-old Aussie Jett Lawrence has broken through for his maiden victory in the world’s highest profile Supercross series, the 2021 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championhip.
Jett blasted his HRC Honda CRF250R off the line to the holeshot and then walked away from the field to what was a dominant victory.
An absolutely ecstatic Jett was understandably fizzing on the podium.
“I got a brilliant start and the track was very technical which worked in my favour.
“The sand section was tricky, all day I had been eyeing off going the triple all the way through it, came around first lap and went okay I think I can do it next lap, came around and went too long, okay I need to back it down a little bit, but, whoah, it just felt really good to be out there and so good to get a win under my belt. It is just awesome, I am speechless!”
With that victory Jett moves into third place in the championship standings after two rounds of what is a scheduled 17-round series.
Christian Craig leads the series on 47-points from Colt Nichols on 44 and Jett on 43.

“Everything just clicked together really well. Qualifying was really good–I was consistent, finishing third in the first one and second in the next. I was struggling with the track then, but when it came to the heat race, everything just clicked together really nicely. I got a really good start and controlled the lead. I had that adrenaline going after my first heat win, and going into the main event I was trying to stay calm. I nailed my start, and the rest is history. I just clicked off laps, and it felt like a video game. I had such a good flow and was doing everything with ease, almost; I was relaxed, and it felt like a practice day. I couldn’t ask for a better day.”
