Classic and Enthusiasts Motor Cycle Club Annual Show at Engadine in Sydney
Sunday 21st September 2014 saw the Illawarra branch of the CEMCC’s annual show at Engadine in Sydney. The CEMCC (Classic and Enthusiasts Motor Cycle Club) is a very diverse group that brings together motorcycle enthusiasts who love and appreciate bikes of all types, but particularly older bikes.
As a result, their shows tend to provide a wonderful and eclectic blend of pre-war rarities right through what many regard as the golden era of motorcycling, the 50’s and on into nearly the present day.
And it was the mixture that was again in evidence at their latest annual show. Items such as a motorised bicycle vied equally for attention with beautifully restored 70’s gems and even some relatively modern bikes like early “noughties” Aprilias.
Unsurprisingly, the bulk of display bikes were beautifully restored examples of their kind, from early Honda 750/4s to rare Suzuki RE5 rotaries. And, as usual, it was a photographer’s paradise as hundreds crowded the venue taking in the sights and recording their favourites digitally for posterity.
Also as always, the spectator parking area provided some gems of its own as owners brought some wonderful machinery out on a sparkling Sunday morning. And here it must also be added that almost every bike on show was road registered (the bulk of them on club registration) and were ridden to the venue. No “trailer it in but don’t ride it” nonsense here.
I highly recommend this show. The people are friendly, admission is free and the sights (and sounds) are well worth the trip. Keep your eye on the web for details of their 2015 show.
