Jed Metcher signs two-year deal with PR Kawasaki – Jed will also contest the Island Classic – by Russell Colvin
MCNews.com.au can confirm that Australia’s Jed Metcher has signed with the PR Racing Kawasaki team for the 2015/16 BSB season.
Metcher recently returned home after a few months stint in Europe, contesting the final two rounds of the FIM European Superstock 1000 championship and the BSB championship, and told MCNews.com.au that he was ecstatic to have signed a deal previous to the start of the 2015 season, as he can now focus solely on riding and training instead of stressing about contracts.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to be in the BSB paddock at this point in time as it is a thriving domestic championship,” explained the 24-year old.
“It will be a tough first season as I’ll be learning the technical British tracks against some of the best and most experienced riders going around.
“PR Racing’s team manager John Jameson has been in the industry for a long time and understands that we will have to take next season testing as serious as possible to ensure we are on pace come round one.”
Round one of the 2015 MCE Insurance BSB Championship will kick into life the first weekend of April at Donington Park.
MCNews.com.au can also confirm that Metcher will have a shakedown test at Broadford tomorrow aboard Scott Owen’s 1980 Suzuki Katana in preparation for the January 2015 Island classic.
“I don’t have any experience on the old timer machines, so it will be a very interesting shake down out at Broadford.
“Scott Owen has put a lot of work and love into this pre historic monster, so hopefully Darren Sciberras from Race Center and I can get the bad boy around fast enough to be competitive at the Island Classic”.
For the time being Metcher will return his focus back onto the Race Center RC10 Superbike project to be ready for round one of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island in order to compete as a wildcard rider. The Race Center team will resume testing soon and will run some of the same components as Metcher will use in next year’s PR Kawasaki ZX-10R machine.
