KTM donate RC390 for Camp Quality Convoy
KTM Australia has again upped the ante with its support of the i98FM Camp Quality Convoy, donating a brand new KTM RC 390 on the occasion of the event’s tenth year.
The annual i98FM Camp Quality Convoy takes place each November in the Illawarra region of NSW and sees almost eight hundred trucks and approximately 1300 motorcycles travel the 77-kilometre journey which starts at the Westcliffe Colliery.
Travelling a route lined with thousands of enthusiastic supporters, the fund-raisers make their way to Albion Park to join in on the fun day for spectators and participants, which this year included acts such as Guy Sebastian, Dami Im and local act The Villians.
Despite the weather throwing up a few challenges of its own on the day, this year’s convoy was an astonishing success, raising last year’s fundraising record mark of $1.1 million up to a brand new record of $1,539,907.
The funds go towards helping Camp Quality deliver vital services for children with cancer and their families, and according to The Dirt Bike Factory Principal and Mister Motocross legend Anthony Gunter who presented the incredible prize from KTM, it’s only getting bigger.
“It was the biggest event yet and it’s growing every year,” said Gunter. The people along the way are just a blowout! There are banners, flags and chairs out the front – a few years ago when it was hot I saw a guy in a swimming pool in the back of his ute watching!
“The truckies really get behind it. They come down from Queensland, and there was even a truck that came all the way from WA for it. It’s a great thing for the community.
“The support from KTM Australia and Jeff Leisk has been really good, he’s been on board for five years now and upped the ante each year.”
“This year our KTM RC 390 was the second prize in the big raffle and it’s a good bike. I took one for blast though the mountains and it goes real well. We get them next month and I think we’ll sell quite a few of them.”
“Our raffle winner Carolyn doesn’t ride bikes – but her hubby Zarko definitely wants a new KTM RC390 in the garage!”
Distinguished by its high-tech first-rate components, the LAMS-approved KTM RC 390 is KTM’s widely anticipated new fully-faired sport bike.
It’s a road legal pseudo racer with superior power-to-weight ratio, unprecedented agility and the ability for extreme lean angles to out-handle whatever the daily race can throw at it.
KTM Australia’s General Manager Jeff Leisk was very pleased to be able to contribute to the i98FM Camp Quality Convoy.
