Ducati detail 2015 line-up at Moto Expo
Ducati Australia is pleased to be presenting the highly anticipated new Ducati Scrambler Icon as well as the new Multistrada 1200DVT at their stand (#21) during this year’s inaugural Moto Expo in Melbourne.
Along with an impressive display of the entire 2014 Ducati range, Ducati Australia will showcase the latest line of Genuine Ducati Apparel.
For the first time Ducati Australia held the ‘Accessoried bike of the year’ competition through their dealer network. Dealers were invited to design and customise a Ducati model of their choice and the winner with the most likes on Facebook would proudly see it displayed at the Melbourne Moto Expo. Fraser Motorcycles Perth took out the award with their Diavel “Mercurio”.
The Ducati Scrambler is finally out of the yellow container (that has been so jealously guarded over the last few months) is now officially ready. It is characterised by its comfortable riding position and steel teardrop tank with interchangeable aluminium side panels. The 790 mm seat height ensures comfort for both the rider and passenger. Stand-out features include the wide handlebar, the headlight with glass lens and LED guide-light, and the Dual Sport wheels. An aluminium finish for the belt covers, the heat guard and the interchangeable surround of the characteristic LCD instrument panel all enrich the style of the bike. Available in two colours: ’62 Yellow and Ducati Red.
“Post-heritage” design gives a contemporary take on the iconic bike built by Ducati back in the 70s. This Scrambler, though, is not a retro bike: it is, rather, intended to be just how the legendary motorcycle would be today if Ducati had never stopped building it.
Ducati Multistrada 1200 DVT
As soon as it was launched back in 2010, the Multistrada 1200 revolutionised the motorcycling world by offering, for the very first time, nothing less than four bikes in one: from super sport to long-distance tourer, from everyday runabout to enduro. Now, Ducati’s technological expertise has produced a new generation of Multistradas; bikes featuring the latest Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine and a state-of-the-art technological package that sets a whole new standard in its product segment. The new Multistrada 1200 DVT is the “multibike” par excellence, with cutting-edge technology making it far more than just the 4-bikes-in-1 offered by its Riding Modes.
In what is a first for the motorcycle industry, the DVT engine features a variable valve timing system with independent control of both the intake and exhaust camshafts. This optimises engine performance throughout the power range in all riding conditions, thus ensuring maximum power at high rpm, fluid delivery, punchy low-rpm torque and low fuel consumption.
The new Multistrada 1200 also sets a new electronics benchmark thanks to the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which dynamically measures roll, yaw and pitch angles as well as the rate of their change. With this information, the IMU enhances both performance and safety. For example, the presence of the IMU enables the ABS to include a cornering system capable of controlling braking even on bends where wheel lock could otherwise cause skidding. On the Multistrada 1200 S it also enables control of the Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL) in its full LED headlamp. Moreover, the IMU has allowed the introduction of Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) which detects and corrects any front wheel lift to ensure maximum acceleration in complete safety.
Ducati will also showcase the entire range of current models during the 3 day expo. Visitors will definitely find something that catches their eye with 17 bikes on display.
The Superbike models will not fail to impress, the 1199 features the 195hp Superquadro engine, perfectly integrated monocoque chassis and unmistakable Ducati design enhanced even further by the most exclusive components.
