Two new Benelli options arriving early in 2015
Benelli BN 600 GT – new sports-tourer with huge 27 lite fuel capacity
The BN 600GT joins the BN 600 range sharing the inline four-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled engine, as run in the popular BN 600R. The engine has a maximum power of 62 kW/84 hp at 11,000 rpm and maximum torque of 57 Nm at 8,100 rpm, matched to an optimal 6 speed gearbox for touring. There is also a reduced power version eligible for the L.A.M.S. learner scheme in various states.
Benelli’s renowned Italian styling has gone into the unique fairing design, upright seating position and ergonomics.
Benelli claim exceptional road handling and inspired dynamics attributed to its rigid tubular steel trellis frame mounted to cast aluminium rear section which incorporates the engine as a stressed member.
The suspension system consists of a 50mm inverted front forks, and a rear aluminium alloy swing arm with rear mono shock absorber that has adjustable rebound and spring preload allowing rider to set up for preferred suspension feel.
Stopping the GT is a twin floating 320mm diameter disc at the front with four-piston radial calipers, and at the rear, a 260mm diameter disc with a two-piston caliper.
The fuel tank has a generous 27 litre fuel capacity, allowing the rider to enjoy longer trips before filling up. Excellent fuel efficiency also makes this motorcycle a viable alternative to the car for the every day commute and weekend tour.
The BN 600GT is offered in white, black and unique matt army green. The learner approved (LAMS) machine is dubbed the BN 600GTS.
Priced at $9990 Rideaway for both BN 600GT or BN 600GTS (LAMS) including 2 year unlimited kilometre warranty and 2 year roadside assist.
BN 302 – Naked parallel twin expected to come in around $5500 +ORC
Italian in design and aggressive in looks, Benelli claims the BN 302 rewards the rider with excellent control via good suspension, smooth clutch control, sporty four valve DOHC inline two-cylinder engine and comfortable ergonomics.
Behind the great looks is an in-line two cylinder 4-stroke 4-valve DOHC Benelli engine, producing 28kW (38 hp) at 12,000 rpm and 27 Nm (2.75 kgm) at 9000 rpm. Feeding this engine is the Delphi MT-05 fuel injection system which is also used in the BN 600 range. This engine is then mated to a 6 speed gearbox.
The BN 302’s inspiring agility is down to improved technology in the design of it’s rigid steel trestle frame and suspension setup. Up front the bike has 41mm inverted forks with adjustable rebound and on the rear swing arm, a mono shock absorber soaks up the bumps with adjustable preload and rebound.
Aluminium alloy wheels come fitted with Pirelli tyres in 120/70-17 front and a 160/60-17 rear making the light and nimble BN 302 a motorcycle that gives the rider immediate confidence when negotiating traffic or sweeping through corners.
The Benelli BN 302 is equipped with twin 260mm discs matched to twin 4-piston calipers at the front, and aided by a single 240mm disc with 2 piston caliper brake at the rear.
The BN 302 will offered in colours white, black, orange and Benelli Green with the option of two frame colours, black or red. It will go on sale in January 2015 and is expected to retail under $5,500 (excluding on road costs) including a 2 year unlimited kilometre warranty. The Benelli BN302 is also learner approved (LAMS).
