Benjamin Currie breaks through for BSB Superstock 600 race win
Victoria’s Benjamin Currie finally became a winner in BSB after pushing championship leader Mason Law into a mistake that saw him crash out of contention.
Starting second on the grid it looked as though the latest round of the Pirelli National Superstock 600cc series would be another duel between the pair but with Law falling on lap 3, 20-year-old Currie was able to resist the pressure from Tarran Mackenzie to romp home 1.527s clear to take the win.
An elated Currie has now closed the points gap to Law, who still leads the championship, to 13 points.
Benjamin Currie – 1st: “What a weekend it was. I qualified second and came out with the victory. Halfway through the race when I had more than a second lead I started losing my head a little bit, making a few mistakes. Taz caught me up and made a real race of it in the last couple of laps. I regrouped and put in a great last two laps to bring home the win. Huge thanks to the team what a great job they have been doing. 13 points behind in the championship now too – game on!”
Craig Fitzpatrick – Team Owner: “I am delighted for Ben, he has been riding well all year and has fit right into the team, congratulations to him on his first win on the Pacedayz.com Yamaha. Thanks to all of our supporters, see you in Scotland.”
