Tom Bramich cleans up Moto 3 / 125GP class in Tassie
Tom Bramich (Ron Angel Classic Racing) has had the perfect weekend in the Honda Moto 3 / 125GP class at the fourth round of the 2015 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli.
Bramich won the opening class race on Saturday and backed it up with two race wins on Sunday to claim overall honours at Symmons Plains in Tasmania.
Championship leader Brian Houghton (K1 Racing) claimed second overall for the round, while Ted Collins (Magnum Welders) had a consistent round to finish in third.
Race 2
Off the line Bramich looked to capitilse on his opening race win, storming to the front ahead of Collins, Matt Barton (ETS Racefuels) and Houghton.
By the end of the opening lap Barton had moved up into second position followed by Houghton who found himself in third spot.
Bramich was in no mood to make the race a close affair, and pushed his lead out to take a comfortable lead in the race.
Behind him Houghton began the quest to reel Barton in and at the end of lap eight, he made his move.
On the final corner of lap nine he passed the Victorian and began comfortably extending the gap to his rival.
But this race was all about Bramich who claimed his second race win on the trot – with Houghton and Barton left to take the minor podium positions.
Collins and Jack Mahaffy (JR Racing) rounded out the top five.
Race 3
In the final race for the category it was again Bramich who came out on top in the closest fought race of the weekend.
Bramich lead the race from the outset though he was pushed by Houghton throughout – the pair exchanging the lead several times over the first seven laps.
Despite a mistake from Barton which pushed him back in the field, the Victorian was determined to get a good result and managed to pass Houghton back into second on the second last lap.
He soon made his way up to Bramich and looked set for an unlikely win, coming right beside him across the final straight, but Bramich had done enough to record a .065 second win.
Houghton was left to claim the minor podium placing a mere half-second behind Barton and claim second overall on the day.
Collins finished fourth for the race and third overall for the round, but it was
The results mean that Bramich is now only one point behind Houghton heading into the final round at Phillip Island.
