Chad Reed and James Stewart confirmed for AUS-X Open
James Stewart has confirmed his attendance alongside Australia’s highest profile Supercross star Chad Reed to contest the inaugural Australian Open of Supercross (AUS-X Open) at the Allphones Arena in Sydney on November 28.
The AUS-X Open event will be the biggest action sports competition in the Southern Hemisphere; combining an international Supercross racing event with a Freestyle Motocross (FMX) ‘Best Trick’ competition, both will feature some of the world’s best riders up against Australia’s best talent.
The addition of Reed, a two-time FIM World Supercross Champion and Australia’s most successful international Supercross star, is a massive boost for the AUS-X Open and is sure to spice up the action for Aussie fans.
“I’m stoked to be riding in the first ever AUS-X Open and showcasing our amazing sport to the home fans in Sydney on November 28,” said Reed.
“The Supercross racing is going to be intense without a doubt and with the FMX guys alongside competing for the ‘Best Trick’ title, this is going to be one of the greatest action sports events to hit Aussie shores.”
“Australia has some of the highest quality riders on the planet so it’s going to be awesome to line up next to our home grown talent at one of the world’s best venues for Supercross in Allphones Arena. I haven’t competed there since I first left for the USA 14 years ago!”
With tickets on sale May 4 and starting from as little as $40, the announcement of Reed’s entry is seen as a massive coup for all sporting fans according to Event Director – Adam Bailey of AME Management.
“Chad is one of the most successful Australians to ever ride a dirt bike and is the fourth most successful Supercross racer in history (globally). He currently sits in the top four of the FIM World Supercross Championship with a win in Atlanta earlier this year.”
“Those who haven’t witnessed his talent in person will be truly amazed,” said Bailey.
“The Freestyle ‘Best Trick’ Competition is the first ever in the Southern Hemisphere and the only one of its kind currently anywhere in the world. Fans will literally witness history in the making as incredible athletes attempt to land stunts previously thought impossible,” stated Bailey.
Superstar James Stewart confirmed for AUS-X Open Supercross event in Sydney
Two-time FIM World Supercross Champion and reality TV star James Stewart also confirmed that he will contest the inaugural AUS-X Open at the AllPhones Arena.
“I’m pumped to be heading down under to race against the world’s best riders and put on a night to remember for the Aussie fans,” said Stewart.
“To have an event which combines high impact, bar to bar Supercross racing with the amazing spectacle of Freestyle Motocross it’s going to be one action-packed show!”
The 29-year-old from Hainse City, Florida (USA), won’t be taking things lightly as he looks to dominate Australia’s largest action sports event.
“For me it’s important to win every race, but i’m not just coming to win races i’m coming to have fun and fun for me is about being around the fans, whilst winning races!” Stewart said.
“The (indoor) arena style racing is hectic, because you have guys banging into you but the whole fan aspect of being really close and loud makes it exciting for us. When we put the helmet on, we’ll race anything so; the louder you guys get, the more drama there’ll be.” Stewart said.
“Stewart’s credentials are simply amazing. He has a style and flair that has quite literally changed the sport of Supercross around the world. He is the second most successful Supercross rider of all-time and has more wins than anyone else competing in the world today (50). James is without a doubt the biggest name in Supercross never to compete in Australia,” said event spokesman Adam Bailey.
The AUS-X Open will also feature pyrotechnics, light and sound and first class entertainment values indoors in the comfort of Allphones Arena. Spectators are urged to reserve their seats early to avoid missing out on this landmark event.
Tickets will be available through Ticketek (www.ticketek.com) at 9:00am on May 4 2015. For more event information go to www.ausxopen.com
