2015 AJMX Nationals Day Four Report
By Jeremy Hammer
With the Bunbury circuit reaching it’s most brutal stage on day three of the 2015 Australian Junior Motocross Nationals, day four was welcomed by a freshly prepared track under perfect weather conditions.
Hunter Lawrence continued his dominant form, crushing both the 125cc and 250cc 15 Year categories. The Queensland rider was flawless all day, proving to be a step above his fellow competitors.
WA’s Justin Hart placed second behind Lawrence in the 125cc class, however had to work his through the field after a bad start in the 250cc Moto, eventually finishing third behind Wade Kirkland.
Cooper Pozniak produced great starts all day, capturing two Holeshots in the 125cc and 250cc category. Although he was able to hold a good position in the opening laps, the New South Welshman dropped out of podium contention in both of his races.
The younger age group 250cc saw Victoria’s Taj Marshall lead from start to finish, despite pressure from Caleb Grothues in the early stages. Grothues was unable to stay on pace with Marshall, and had to settle for second with Mat Fabry following in third.
The 125cc 13-U16 Years class underwent their last qualifying heats, and will commence their final races tomorrow.
Group A saw a new winner in the category, with Jake Williams securing the Moto win ahead of Jye Dickson and Travis Lee Edwards.
Group B was stacked with all the previous heat winners, and shaped up to be one of the best races we have seen all week.
Mat Fabry grabbed the Holeshot with Caleb Grothues and Callum Norton following closely. The trio weren’t separated more than a few bike lengths for the entire Moto, with Fabry handling the pressure to take the win, while Grothues and Norton would drag racing across the finish line, where Grothues narrowly edged out Norton.
Mitchell Outram won yet another 85cc 14-U16 Years Moto, while Jett Lawrence, Alex Larwood and Bailey Malkiewicz won their respective 85cc classes.
