Ben Currie steps up to BSB Supersport for 2016
The final chequered flag of 2015 may have only recently been waved but CF Motorsport are already looking ahead to 2016 and have announced their first confirmed riders for the upcoming season.
Australian Ben Currie, who finished 2nd overall for the team this year in the National Superstock 600cc series, will remain with the squad for a second term, moving up to British Supersport on one of the Pacedays R6 Yamaha machines.
Currie will be joined in the team by Taz Taylor, who will move into Superstock 600cc for the first time after a front running season in the Motostar category that saw him claim 15 podium finishes including 9 wins.
Ben Currie – British Supersport Championship: “I am delighted to say I’m continuing another year with Craig and the CF Motorsport gang.
“After the year we have had and the incredible working relationship we have formed I think we are only going to get stronger and stronger as we move up into British Supersport where I want to be able to challenge for podiums.
“Finishing 2nd in stock 600 this year has given me the confidence to step up and with CF motorsport behind me and the management of former WorldSBK champ Troy Corser I think it can be another awesome year.”
Taz Taylor – National Superstock Championship: “I’m really looking forward to riding for Craig and to be part of the CF Motorsport team. I’ve spoken to Ryan (my old team boss) about what I should do and he said Craig’s team is definitely the best option. I’m nervous about throwing my leg over a 600 because a Moto3 is the biggest bike I’ve ever ridden but the team has a lot of experience and with a lot of pre-season testing planned hopefully I’ll have a good time in Spain and be ready for round 1.”
CF Motorsport are currently in discussions with a possible 3rd rider who would join on a second Supersport machine in 2016 as the team look to build upon the successes of past seasons.
