Blake Colleton – one of the sports rising stars, unfortunately suffered an accident at the Wonthaggi round of the 2014 MX Nationals, which left Blake in a wheelchair and on a long road to recovery.
As announced at Swan Hill, the team from the MX Nationals will be holding a fundraising dinner to assist with Blake’s recovery at the eighth round of the series at Raymond Terrace.
The event will be held at the Raymond Terrace Bowling Club on Saturday August 2 at 6:30pm, and will include a smorgasbord dinner designed to cater for riders. The cost of the meal is $25.00 with 50 per cent of each meal going directly to Blake to assist with his recovery.
As well as the dinner, the event will include a number of auction items, interviews and plenty of fun and laughs.
Those wishing to help are encouraged to come along to the dinner, show their support, and bring the motocross community together to help a rider in need.
Should you wish to attend, please email [email protected] with the number of tickets you require by Tuesday July 29.
The team from the MX Nationals would like to wish Blake and his family all the best with his recovery, and are looking forward to bringing riders, fans, family and friends together to show their support.
Below is an update from Blake’s Mum Karen.
Blake was discharged from Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra hospital on Thursday 10th July. He has spent ten and half weeks in hospital since the crash at the Wonthaggi MX Nationals on 27th April.
He is so happy to be finally home with his family.
Blake spent two weeks in Melbourne’s Alfred hospital and then two weeks in the PA Brisbane, then to be transferred to their Spinal Injury Unit. Blake’s doctors are amazed by his determination towards everything he does.
Blake’s condition remains unchanged; he is T5/6 paraplegic with no feeling or movement below his chest. With everything he has been through, Blake has a great positive attitude towards life.
He is looking forward to starting rehab with Making Strides on the Gold Coast this week and he is staying hopeful of recovery.
In the future he would like to start driving again and regain some independence.
Blake has had the support of his whole family, friends and the whole motocross community through this.
He would like to give a huge thank you to everyone and anyone who has supported him in any way.
