Brayden Elliott expands racing campaign to two Championships in 2015
Hankook Racing’s Brayden Elliott is, in his second full year of road racing, to contest both the Australasian Superbike Championship and Australian Superbike Championship, totalling twelve race weekend’s in six different states, providing a strong boost in experience for the Tumut based rider.
With the recent announcement of the expansion of the Australasian Superbike Championship to seven rounds and the re-instatement of the Australian Superbike Championship, Brayden will step up to take on both series’ and admits it will be one of the most challenging seasons of racing in his career.
“I’m extremely excited to announce my plans for the 2015 season. I will be continuing to ride the Hankook Tyres Suzuki GSX-R 600’s, although I plan to be doing double the races compared to what I competed in during the 2014 season. I will be competing in both the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) and Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC) in the Supersport category.”
“I’m really looking forward to what plans to be the biggest racing season of my career. Having twelve rounds held in six different states of Australia will be a huge task although one that I’m ready to take on,” Elliott said.
In addition to the twelve rounds of racing across the two series’, Brayden is preparing to allocate designated testing periods in between events to ensure he and his Hankook Tyres Racing Team are ultimately prepared for every round and new circuit they will encounter throughout the year.
“I know how much hard work was put into the 2014 season and to think I will be competing at double the events shows why the whole team is already planning and organising in advance. A good balance of testing, traveling and racing will be a challenge in itself, also learning new tracks that I have not yet ridden at,” Elliott added.
Following a debut road racing season filled with opportunities to learn and come to grips with some of Australia’s best race tracks, Brayden admits he is looking forward to the extra racing commitments as an opportunity to adapt further to the complexities of racing as part of one of the nation’s premier categories.
“Taking away everything that I have learnt from my first year road racing, I feel like I will be starting off the new season a lot more prepared knowing what to expect. I feel as though not only myself but the whole team can continue to build and improve getting closer to reaching my goals.”
“I’m definitely happy to continue riding Suzuki’s as I feel very comfortable on these machines. I hope to use the bikes strong mid-range power and amazing braking to my advantage, especially at some of the tight tracks in the championship. We are currently preparing a newer model Suzuki GSX-R 600 to gain further improvements.”
“With final details yet to be released for both the ASBK and ASC championships, I feel as though we are making the right decision to compete in both. This way I can gain maximum bike time competing at a variety of different tracks, against the best riders in Australia,” Elliott concluded.
