Daniel Falzon confirms ASBK Superbike campaign
JD Racing has informed MCNews.com.au via the following statement confirming that Daniel Falzon will make the step up to the Superbike category in 2015. Read on for the statement.
JD Racing had hoped to be confirming all details of our 2015 season plans but unfortunately there are a number of variables still not finalized. However, we are confident the time has come for Daniel to make the move to the Superbike class, with our choice of machinery being the new Yamaha R1.
With Daniel moving to the premier class, JD Racing has decided to expand the team with up to two seats in the 600cc class. The riders will compete on bikes previously ridden by Daniel to the 2013 and 2014 Australian Supersport Championships. We are working with a number of junior riders who are looking to develop their skill, we hope to be able to announce the full JD Racing team soon.
For Daniel, it will be considered very much a development year. He and the team will need to learn new machinery which is the 2015 Yamaha R1 after having a very successful career aboard the Yamaha R6.
“We know as a team we can develop a new rider to a competitive level in the 600cc class. Daniel’s time on the R6 has given us huge amounts of data which will be a useful tool in developing a new rider in addition to our knowledge of the R6 machine and Supersport class.”
Jon Falzon | Team Engineer – “I’m very excited to be racing the 2015 R1. I think it‘s time to move up and I am looking forward to the challenge. The team is looking to expand and that’s going to take a lot more effort, so it’s not all about me this year, or a championship. At this stage our budget prevents us from running a spare bike so we’ll just have to take the year round by round. Either way, I will gain experience in the superbike class and at some new tracks.”
Daniel Falzon | Rider – “At this stage, our plans for competition will include the ASBK, the team look forward to racing at the new tracks offered in the series and the format ASBK offer is a better platform whereby to test our skill in running other riders. However, to ensure Daniel’s ability is tested against a variety of competitors, JDR also plan to compete at the MotoGP event and selected ASC rounds.”
We are fortunate enough to announce the ongoing and expanding support of our major partner, Caterpillar, EPSA and welcome Caterpillar dealer, William Adams to the team. Mainline Dynolog Dynamometers will also continue their support of the JD Racing Team. A sincere thanks to YRD for their continued support and to our major product suppliers Shark, Berik and Ipone who will all remain on board for the 2015 season.
