If you’re a South Australian local, you are sure to have heard of star Supersport rider Daniel Falzon. Hot off a 2013 Championship win, Falzon is set to wow his local crowd when the Swann Superbike Series (ASC) heads to Mallala in just over one weeks time.
At the conclusion of the first round of the ASC at Wakefield Park, JonDaniels Racing Team/EPSA rider Falzon, was left with mixed feelings about his result from the weekend, and currently sits in fourth position in the Supersport class with five rounds to go.
However, despite Falzon’s lack of a podium at round one, the South Australian racer is ready to dominate the Supersport class when he hits the track at his home round at Mallala Motorsport Park on May 17 and 18.
“It’s the first time we’ve had a National race in South Australia since 2009. Even back then, I wasn’t competing at a very high level,” he said.
“Over the last five years I’ve had people asking when I’m racing in SA next, so it will be great for my family and friends to see what a National race is really like.
“I’m going to be a lot more determined this round to prove to my friends and family, that our team is as good as we are. I’m going to be putting in 100 per cent and I feel that we are ready.”
With a Mallala test day now in the books, the JonDaniels Race Team believe they have all the ingredients required to achieve the result they are looking for from round two.
“I’ve done a lot of laps of Mallala in the past, but it’s always great to get out on an open track and come in whenever you feel. We got a lot of testing done this week on different tyres and a lot of race simulations as well,” he said.
“I’ve grown up with Mallala – I have done all my proving grounds there. I’ve found that when I have raced at other tracks my experience at Mallala with full speed to braking has helped a lot, so I am thankful for the time I have had at that track.
“I think the few riders that finished before me at the last round had the advantage of some track experience so it will be good to use my experience at Mallala to see what I can do. If we can stay consistent and not come off the bike then we will be very happy.
“I have no doubts that the other riders have the ability to win, they were fast in testing as I anticipated, however we’ve managed wins at their home tracks before so Mallala is fair game.”
