ArenaCross FREE for Phillip Island World Superbike Revellers
February 21-23’s world superbike championship is turning into the ultimate three-day Phillip Island motorcycle extravaganza, with confirmation today that spectacular ArenaCross dirt bike action joins the agenda, as a freebie for all fans.
The off-road flavour comes courtesy of Kevin Williams, from Williams Event Management (WEM), who will stage the Victorian ArenaCross Championship at a purpose built track behind the circuit’s iconic hilltop crest, Lukey Heights.
Any ticket holder to Phillip Island’s season opening world superbike round next February 21-23 will get free access to the two day dirt bike spectacular. It’s the deal of the decade, with a three day pass, purchased in advance, just $99* – delivering three days of on track action including two world championships, national classes, juniors and historic races and now ArenaCross.
The addition of ArenaCross – basically a downsized version of supercross — to the program will see juniors (7-16yrs) compete on Saturday before the seniors (over 16yrs) take over on Sunday. All classes will be catered for, including veterans and racing will continue throughout the day.
The popularity of ArenaCross has grown enormously in the last few years, and it is traditionally held on smaller, more intimate venues than supercross. Expect to see the man-made Phillip Island track throw up a testing mix of whoops, jumps and turns in a small area, where spectators won’t miss a second of the action.
“We are excited to be working with the crew at Phillip Island again. This is a great opportunity for the sport and riders to be showcased in front of a large crowd of motorcycle fans,” said event organiser Kevin Williams.
Free for all world superbike revellers, the weekend’s ArenaCross action is covered in any ticket from a one day entry, to a BarSBK, from a corporate pass through to a three-day $99* pass purchased in advance. And with no gate charge for children 15** and under, accompanied by an adult, kids entry to the world superbike championship and ArenaCross is all FREE.
Supplementary regulations and entry forms will be released this Monday, January 13 for the Phillip Island’s world superbike ArenaCross Championship.
Tickets for the Phillip Island WSBK round are on sale now. The advance three-day general admission pass is just $99*, $51 cheaper than the gate price. For more information and to buy tickets visit www.worldsbk.com.au.
