Glenn Kearney replaces Strang at ISDE
By Kendall Jennings
Team Australia has been forced to make a last-minute change to their line up for the 90th International Six Days of Enduro 2015 (ISDE) in Slovakia, after American based enduro expert Josh Strang suffered visa issues which prevent him from racing.
34-year-old Glenn Kearney has been called up to replace Strang, and will complete on Strang’s Husqvarna machine.
“Well my ISDE finished before I could even get started. Have been waiting on my green card to show up so I can travel, and it just didn’t work out. So bummed but there isn’t much I can do about it. Thanks Glenn Kearney for taking my spot on such late notice and a big thanks to Motorcycling Australia for understanding the whole deal. Wish all the Aussies luck next week!”, commented Strang via Facebook.
Kearney is a well credentialled replacement for Strang, the current Husqvarna Australia Enduro Race Team Manager and racer, has competed in the ISDE before and thus knows what is expected as the Picton born racer was part of the 2012 Australian Team. That year Team Australia finished on the second step of the ISDE podium to victors France.
Kearney finished eight in this year’s AORC series.
Kearney will join Matthew Phillips, Daniel Milner, Beau Ralston, Lachlan Standford in the E2 class. Josh Green is competing in the E1 class for Australia in the Team Trophy.
Reigning AORC Champion Toby Price is absent from the Australian squad as he is making his debut as a full factory supported KTM Rally Rider in the Atacama Rally, which got underway yesterday in Chile. His place in the team had been taken by Lachlan Stanford.
Broc Grabham, Tom Mason, Daniel Sanders and Tye Simmonds are competing in the Junior Trophy E3 class.
Jessica Gardnier, Tayla Jones and Jemma Wilson team up again for the Women’s Trophy. Thomas Jenner, Trent Sykes and Michael Turnbull compete in the C2 Clubman class.
Machine and Administrative checks begin on Thursday 3rd September. The practice area is open from 9 to 12 noon, and 2pm to 6 Thursday and Friday, precious time for Glenn Kearny to test and adjust Strang’s machine. While the rest of the Australian team make final tweaks to their preparations.
Competition begins on Monday 7th September, and concludes on Saturday 12th September, 2015.
