The Iron Run
New Zealand’s Biggest Motorcycle Festival Roars Into The Bay Of Islands
Motorcycle riders from around New Zealand will be rolling into Paihia in the Bay of Islands this 11 and 12 March for the annual Harley-Davidson Iron Run.
As the biggest event of its kind nationally, the Iron Run will host an action-packed program of entertainment for motorcycle enthusiasts and families alike over two exciting days.Â
The renowned Thunder Run, open to all riders, is expected to see more than 1,000 participants experience some of the best motorcycling terrain the Northland has to offer.
Nigel Keough, Managing Director for Harley-Davidson Australia & New Zealand comments, “We invite riders from across New Zealand and beyond to be part of our iconic Thunder Run. The hour long round trip will give people a chance to join the convoy as we head from Paihia, the jewel in the Bay of Islands crown, to the historic town of Kerikeri.
We’re also encouraging locals to be part of the proceedings by coming down and cheering on the procession as the bikes roar into town. It’s set to be some spectacle!”
On top of the Thunder Run, the Iron Run festivities will include the Harley-Davidson Show & Shine: an exhibition of new, vintage and customised Harley-Davidson motorcycles polished to perfection, live music from local artists, an art and craft market and a delicious food and drink offering.
The latest 2016 Harley-Davidson models will be on display and available to test ride for trained riders, while those with less experience will be able to jump on a specially designed stationary Harley-Davidson and learn the basics of motorcycling.
Beyond the Iron Run and the opportunity to cruise some of New Zealand’s best roads, guests will be able to enjoy the stunning scenery, golden beaches and a range of recreational activities that the maritime playground has to offer. Sailing, swimming with dolphins or sea kayaking around the 144 islands that make up the Bay of Islands is just some of the fun to be had.
