Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team’s Troy Herfoss and Jamie Stauffer set for ASBK at SMP
The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team will return to a two-man squad at Round 3 of the Australian Superbike Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend, with both Troy Herfoss and Jamie Stauffer confirmed to take to the Superbike grid.
Stauffer who was forced to sit out of Round 2 of the ASBK at Wakefield Park due to injury, will make his return to racing this weekend, aboard his Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP machine.
Now that a medical clearance has confirmed his return, Stauffer spoke about his time off the bike, as well as his preparation leading into round three of the ASBK.
“I am looking forward to getting back on the bike, it’s been tough having to be sidelined for Round 2, I’m still not 100% fit, but I am feeling a lot better about my return this weekend,” he said.
“I am going into this round with other competitors having a race meeting on top of me, and I haven’t ridden the bike in a while, so I am just going to try and do as many laps as I can on Friday and see how I am feeling on Saturday and Sunday.
“An important aspect of racing is having a good, strong team behind you, which I have with Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team. I am ready to try and win as many races as I can, and help put Honda on the podium again.”
Herfoss who had a successful outing at Wakefield Park Raceway, which saw him take the round win as well as the Superbike Championship lead, is ready to get back on the Honda at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.
“Round two went well for myself and the Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team. It is always nice to come home with a win at the end of the weekend, especially given that it was my home round and in front of family and friends,” explained Herfoss.
“It will be good to have the team back together again with Jamie returning from injury, we all work well as a unit, and support each other on race weekends.
“We have a strong, competitive bike, so I am heading into the weekend feeling fit and ready – I know that I have the pace so am feeling confident about this weekend’s racing.”
The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team, will now head to Sydney Motorsport Park for Round 3 of the 2016 Australian Superbike Championship, with Troy Herfoss having a two-point lead in the Superbike championship standings, while Stauffer is currently sitting in 16th position.
