Jed Beaton taking on 2017 European Motocross Championship
Honda and Carglass have formed a new team set to compete in the European 250 Motocross Championship: Carglass-Honda Racing.
Carglass-Honda Racing will join the EMX250 paddock with reigning Australian MX2 champion Jed Beaton and talented German youngster Stefan Ekerold who will both ride the potent Honda CRF250R.
Beaton brings championship-winning pedigree to Carglass-Honda Racing, after the Aussie won the Australian MX2 Championship title courtesy of six moto wins, four overall wins and a total of seven podium finishes.
Ekerold also brings prodigious talent to the Carglass-Honda Racing team after he finished third in the 2016 ADAC Youngster Cup following a consistent campaign which yielded three podiums and an overall win at the final round of the season.
Patrick Claessens and Peter Stiphout, who have known each other since their BMX days 30 years ago, will run the Carglass-Honda Racing team. Both Claessens and Stiphout have considerable experience in motocross and are looking forward to starting a new chapter with Honda in the EMX250 paddock.
The 2017 European 250 motocross season will be contested over nine rounds, with Maggiora in Italy kicking off the proceedings in April (15-16).
Jed Beaton
“I am excited to have signed with Carglass-Honda Racing for 2017 and to race in the EMX250 class. This is a great opportunity for myself and I’m looking forward to making the most of it. I’m keen to ride the Honda CRF250R as it’s always been a very strong bike and I’m really overwhelmed to be a part of the Honda Racing family.”
Stefan Ekerold
“I am beyond happy to have signed with the Carglass-Honda Racing team. Honda is putting a lot into making this a winning team, along with Patrick the team owner who I feel really believes in me like no one else, and also with Jean-Pierre from Carglass. The Honda CRF250R delivers the feeling while riding that I have been searching for a while now to find. With this confidence in the bike, the goal of becoming European Champion in 2017 is well within reach. The team and I will go to work over these winter months and I am looking forward to it, and facing all the challenges that will be ahead.

“We’re really excited to welcome the Carglass/Giving Back team to the Honda Racing family. Patrick and Peter have been around in the motocross paddock for a bit and they understand what it takes to run a professional motocross team. We were really impressed from the first contact that their values and vision fitted so well with the Honda approach. The talented Jed and Stefan on the Honda CRF250R should give the team a fantastic start for their first EMX250 season.”
