Jed Metcher set to make BSB debut this weekend at Assen
Only a few weeks after making his FIM European Superstock 1000 Championship debut at Jerez in Spain, Jed Metcher will this weekend make his MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship (BSB) debut at Assen.
Metcher will saddle up with the PR Racing Kawasaki team, the same outfit that fellow Aussie David Johnson races for in the Superstock 1000 class. Metcher will compete this weekend at Assen, but will then miss the penultimate round at Silverstone due to European Superstock 1000 commitments at Magny-Course, before then reuniting with the squad for the Brands Hatch season finale, October 17-19.
Rob Vennegoor, who was Metcher’s manager from RT Motorsport in 2010, helped tee up the ride after getting wind that regular PR Racing Kawasaki rider Keith Farmer was sidelined through injury.
“”I’ve had one of my most up and down seasons ever this year so I’m more than happy that John Jameson and the PR Racing team has given me the opportunity to ride their Superbike,” commented Metcher. “I’ve had some experience with the ZX-10R in Australia and really enjoy riding the bike. I need to thank Rob Vennegoor from RT Racing for working tirelessly to keep me racing.”
Metcher told MCNews.com that he is going in to his BSB debut with an open mind as there are so many unknown’s surrounding the situation. “The high level of talent is one thing, and combining that with the kind of experience that is in the superbike class makes it a little hard to set goals. I will be heading into the round to learn the PR Racing Kawasaki and show I deserve a seat somewhere for 2015”.
