Josh Brookes drops in ahead of Imola WorldSBK FP1
Assen had its ups and downs more, than the obvious. During the weekend every time we made a step forward, it was countered by mechanical issues, so the progress was unseen, especially in qualifying when I missed a great opportunity to move into Q2.
For race one I had picked the wrong tyre, so again the progress with the bike went unnoticed.
Finally Sunday things seemed to turn our way.
Morning warm up I ran fifth in full dry conditions. The race was wet, but the set-up improvements also massively helped my confidence and feel for the wet also.
Now at Imola, aside from gearing we have left the bike as it finished Assen. We hope that the obvious step forward can be applied to this circuit too. We will find out soon enough!
The circuit here at Imola is a classic style, very similar to BSB in some ways. Short run off zones and some good change in elevation. The short run off puts many riders off, but for me, after racing the TT, I’ve got used to it maybe.
I will be on track for FP 1 shortly.
