Yamaha goes stunting with Dave McKenna
Australian freestyle stunt rider, Dave McKenna, has teamed up with Yamaha to bring his unique brand of entertainment to thrill hungry crowds around Australia.
McKenna, who is the face of Australia’s first ever motorcycle freestyle school Wheelie Zone*, has performed professionally for over six years in both Australia and China. He is also a qualified motorcycle instructor and is known for being able to perform displays in areas as small as five square metres.
In addition to his riding skills, McKenna is an ambassador for the Cancer Council Australia having twice suffered and beaten the disease.
“This is exactly the kind of opportunity I have been working towards and now that I have it I’m about to take my career to where I’ve always known it could go. Yamaha is also now the official partner of our freestyle school Wheelie Zone. We will have an R1 for the simulator and an XT250 and Raptor 700 ATV to let loose on,” says McKenna
“Thanks again to Yamaha for backing me 100%. I’m going to have a lot of fun showing them how far we can go together,” he adds.
Yamaha Motor Australia General Manager/Director Steven Cotterell explains: “McKenna is a unique talent who is well placed to showcase the performance of a wide variety of Yamaha models. His shows highlight the passion, the commitment and the feeling of pure adrenalin involved in owning a Yamaha. Dave is also a great brand ambassador so we see this partnership as a perfect fit.”

*Wheelie Zone teaches riders the art of balance and control by using a mobile wheelie simulator which will feature YZF-R1. Riders then progress from the wheelie simulator to bikes such as XT250 and YFM700R to practice what they have learned. Wheelie Zone also teaches extreme braking techniques and stoppies.
