Here we’ve got the MCNews.com.au Hyundai iLoad being fitted out for bicycle and motorcycle transport, with a Thule Pro Ride and two Thule Low Rider front axle mounts for bicycles, as well as a central ACEBIKES SteadyStand, a motorcycle front wheel stand that is adjustable to cope with almost any front tyre diameter and width. Â Click here for more on the ACEBIKES Steady Stand.
This includes the fitment of the optional Hyundai wooden floor, and makes use of the standard tiedown points. Installation of the Thule mounts includes custom base plates secured with lock nuts, as well as custom mounting blocks for the Pro Ride bicycle carrier, which is designed to be fitted to a roof rack system, with angled mounts. The base plates include a plate above and beneath the plywood flooring, helping spread the load and ensure a secure and strong foundation.
Below you can see a step by step pictorial of the process
All up, a friend of mine pretty handy on the tools spent a good few hours making all the mounting plates to ensure everything was located as securely and professionally as possible in the Hyundai Iload.
I hate transporting motorcycles, I feel they are in more danger on a trailer or in a van than they are with me doing five gear wheelstands up the road on them or flogging them around a racetrack. With this set-up in the Hyundai iLoad I have great peace of mind and no longer shit quite so many bricks when I have to transport a motorcycle, especially one as beautiful as this Triumph Thruxton R.
Will give some more thoughts on the Hyundai iLoad on more thoughts, but thus far loving it. The comfortable bench seat has a flip down centre console with plenty of room to stash all my crap.
The new Hyundai Apple CarPlay integration with an iPhone is superb.
