A short pictorial history of Moto Devil with Phil Aynsley
Another obscure Italian marque was Moto Devil
This short-lived company (1953-57) was a part of the well established machining firm OCMA Fiorano al Serio that had its manufacturing base in Bergamo.
During its brief existence the company produced models ranging from 49 to 250cc, powered by both 2 and 4-stroke engines.
The 2-stroke powered models were designed by Ing. Boninsegna. However the 2-stroke motor was remarkably similar to the MV Agusta 160, while the 175 4-stroke resembled the Parilia 175. The resulting lawsuits went against the company with the compensation payouts causing its demise.
The top of the range 2-stroke model was this 160 Raid
Designer William Soncini was employed in 1956 and produced 125 & 175cc SOHC and 175cc DOHC machines. He later had success in Aermacchi’s race dept.
The most intriguing of their bikes was this 1956 OHV 175cc Formula 3 racer, the sole example known to exist.
