Mr Motocross Legends and Stars Dinner
Not only the men dressed up for the occasion but the wife’s and partners were stunning for the successful event, held in Melbourne on 8 March, which has been hailed as one of the greatest gatherings of Australian MX Legends and Stars with many generations represented from young-gun 16-year old Jonte Berryman through to racing legend Laurie Alderton.
More than 550 guests attended the Charity Dinner, Which featured ex-racer and media personality Neil Crompton as Master of Ceremonies. Throughout the night Neil asked tough questions of the MX Legends in attendance, who included Trevor and Gary Flood, Anthony Gunter, Stephen Gall, Ray ‘Goof’ Vandenberg, Jeff Leisk and Craig Dack. When he asked Leisky who he didn’t like when he was racing? Leisk replied, “I didn’t just hate one rider, I hated them all.”
A highlight of the evening was the presence of Vince Tesoriero‘s Mr Motocross Bibles, which include in chronological order every print press released from the Mr Motocross years. In an age before computers, it was through this press material that Mr Tesoriero managed to secure sponsorship from the likes of Golden Breed, Pepsi, Cue, Castrol and more.
The night was the brainchild of Rosco Holden, who put in two-year’s work to bring it to fruition with the blessing of the original Mr Motocross series promoter Vince Tesoriero. The primary aspect of the event was to present Trevor and Gary Flood, Anthony Gunter and Craig Dack their series Muscle Man Trophies, which they never received in their championship years.
