Motorcyclists & Police across NSW have joined together in friendly rivalry to contest the 16th annual Summer Blood Challenge and just when it looked as though the Police would break through for a win the motorcyclists have made a late charge to get their nose in front with less than a week to run in challenge.
The Summer Blood Challenge is a friendly competition between NSW Police Force and Motorcyclists across NSW and the ACT. Their friends, families and neighbours are all invited to come and donate blood and support their team during the summer months.
The Motorcyclists are currently in front with 8 wins compared to the previous 7 wins by the NSW Police Force.
Motorcyclists would like to make it four wins in a row but previous figures had put that hope in trouble, however a late charge has seen the motorcyclists hit the front in the run to the line.
Latest figures show motorcyclists leading the police 2410 to 2312. The combined tally making an impressive tally of 4722 donations thus far in the campaign. Hopefully MCNEWS.COM.AU readers can help push that figure through the 5000 barrier by making a donation before the week is out.
With the Summer Blood Challenge finishing on the 29th of February, Garry Wolfe, ARCBS NSW/ACT Operations Unit Manager is encouraging everyone in NSW who rides a motorcycle or has a motorcyclist in their family, as well as all NSW Policemen and women, including their family and friends, to roll up their sleeve and donate blood.
“By donating blood during the crucial last week of the Challenge, you are not only helping your side to get over the line and win this year’s Challenge, you are also giving yourself the final chance to go into the draw to win* one of three Harley Davidson rides”, Mr Wolfe Said.

We are pleased to announce The Reece Bancell Memorial Foundation has kindly donated a three day double pass, to the 2008 Phillip Island World Superbike Championship. By presenting to donate and filling out a registration form, you can not only go into the draw to win this wonderful prize, but you will also have the chance to win one of three Harley Davidson rides courtesy of Bikescape Tours and Rentals.
The festive season is always a unique time for the Australian Red Cross Blood Service because there are so many public holidays. The need for blood never takes a holiday, and with fewer days to collect blood it is really important for people to take the time to donate over this time.
For this reason it’s really important to rally your friends and family together and not only donate as part of the Summer Blood Challenge but also help to save a life of someone in need this festive season.
There is less than a week left in the challenge, so get behind your side.
