Ryan Farquhar injured at North West 200
Ryan Farquhar and Dan Cooper crashed heavily during the opening SuperTwins race at the North West 200 overnight.
Dan Cooper was taken to Causeway Hospital in Coleraine with minor injuries while Ryan Farquhar was transported by air ambulance to Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast with chest and pelvic injuries.
North West 200 organisers have stated that 40-year-old Farquhar’s injuries are not ‘life threatening’.
The incident happened on lap three at Black Hill and caused the rest of the days proceedings to be halted and the race to be declared.
Cooper and Farquhar has been the fastest two qualifiers in the SuperTwin category. In their absence Ivan Lintin was awarded the race win ahead of James Hillier and Jeremy McWilliams.
Earlier in the week Ben Wilson suffered serious leg injuries during practice at the event and is being transported to the UK to undergo an operation conducted by the same surgeon that helped screw Ian Hutchinson back together in 2010.
