Stauffer Battle Ready for Round 2 FX-ASC
Team Honda Racing is very pleased to have Jamie Stauffer back on board his Honda CBR1000RR SP for this weekend’s Round 2 of the Australasian Superbike Championship alongside current series leader Troy Herfoss.
Stauffer, who has recovered well from his pelvic injury, was recently given medical clearance to race after successful treatment for a related blood clot.
Having been sidelined for Round 1, Stauffer could but watch as teammate Herfoss and Superbike Rookie Aiden Wagner took on the field at Sydney Motorsport Park in a very successful start to the season.
Wagner and Herfoss traded race wins throughout the weekend, but Herfoss emerged the victor overall and heads into Round 2 at Mallala Raceway the series leader.
Herfoss is well aware that the battle has only just begun, saying “I am very happy to start round two in the lead, but of course it is only the beginning of the season and it is a long road to the title.
“We tested recently at Mallala in some varying conditions and I feel we are heading in the right direction with the bike for sure. I’m really looking forward to the weekend and having Jamie back in mix will be terrific.”
Having missed round one, Stauffer has a points deficit heading into this weekend, which only serves as further motivation. “I’m really keen to get out there this weekend and get myself back in the game with some race wins.
“It is frustrating to miss a round of course, but it is what it is and I can’t change what happened.
“Being healthy and safe is clearly the priority and my injury has had just that little extra time to heal since I’ve been waiting on clearance for the clot.
“The clearance came just in time to test recently and it felt great to be back on the Honda.
“I know the competition is heating up, but I know the CBR1000RR SP is strong so we’ll see what we can do this weekend.”
