Interview conducted with Steve Martin after Island Classic International Challenge Race Two
“I’ve got a 100% finish rate at the moment I’m pretty happy about that.
“There was a bit of attrition in the race which helped me in the results, but I did manage to beat Glenn Richards which was good for the Australian team, even though he’s an Australian, he’s on the British team.
“I’m smart enough to know now that I’m 47, I don’t ride or train as much as I used to. I’m just happy to be in the Australian team and make the numbers up if I can.
“I’ve had so much bad luck over the last four years that if I can get out of here in one piece, I will have a lot more confidence, and I’ll be able to approach things as I once used to. But I just need to get my confidence back up if that makes sense.”
