Troy Herfoss to take on Japan
Team Honda Racing’s Troy Herfoss will fly to Japan on Sunday straight from the FX-ASC season opener at Sydney Motorsports Park.
Herfoss is winging his way to Japan to test with the Dream RT Sakurai Honda team in the lead up to the opening round of the All Japan Superbike Championship.
Troy Herfoss will be competing not only in Round 1 at Suzuka, but also round three of the All Japan Superbike Championship at Motegi before taking on the Suzuka 8 Hour endurance race in late July.
Dividing his time between competing for Team Honda Racing in the Swann Australasian FX Superbike Championship and the time spent testing and competing for the Dream RT Sakurai Honda team, Herfoss is indeed living the Honda dream.
“I am really excited!” commented the 28-year-old Goulburn based master of all things two wheels.
“The opportunity to spend more time on the bike for the Sakurai Honda team before the Suzuka 8 Hour event is fantastic.
“I’ll be heading straight to the airport on Sunday after racing the first round of our championship just to make it to Japan in time to test for the first round of the Japanese championship.
“I can’t wait to get on the bike and work with the team to create a solid plan for the events I will compete in.
“The Sakurai Honda team is a very professional team and I look forward to learning all I can throughout my time in Japan.”
Troy will compete at the opening round of the All Japan Superbike Championship on the weekend of April 19.
33-year-old Katsuyuki Nakasuga is the reigning All Japan Superbike Champion, his fifth Japanese Superbike Title for Yamaha in seven years. Nakasuga first became champion in 2008 , backed it up in 2009 and has taken the number one plate for the last three years in succession.
