Yamaha men setting the pace at Wakefield Park
While most of the ASBK front runners improved marginally on their FP1 times (Link) during the second of three 30-minute sessions to be held today at Wakefield Park, Wayne Maxwell did 11 laps that all were faster than the next best so far today, birthday boy Daniel Falzon.
The best of the ten 57s put down by Maxwell was a 57.280 which was immediately followed by a 57.862, 57.565, 5.727, 57.845 and a 58.007. Maxwell also put in the most number of laps during the session, his quickest set on the 13th of the 24 circuits of the 2.2km ribbon of tarmac.
Falzon, who turned 24 today, put in a best of 58.032 to go second quickest ahead of traditional Wakefield Park pacesetter Troy Herfoss.
Reigning ASBK Champion Josh Waters was fourth quickest while Jamie Stauffer declared his intentions on what is his return to competitive racing by laying down a 58.502 on the Craig McMartin prepared Panigale R.
Glenn Allerton is shaking off some bad memories of Wakefield Park last year to go sixth quickest ahead of championship points leader Bryan Staring.
Troy Bayliss actually went slower in FP2 than he managed in FP1, thus the DesmoSport Ducati racer was only eighth quickest this afternoon just haed of Michael Blair, while Matt Walters rounded out the top ten.
