World GP Bike Legends returns at the ADAC Sachsenring Classic 2016
Following a hugely successful first event at Jerez in 2015, World GP Bike Legends is back for 2016. This time, the iconic bikes and riders from the golden age of Grand Prix motorcycle racing will do battle at the challenging Sachsenring Circuit – home to the German round of the current MotoGP World Championship.
The unprecedented blend of former Grand Prix stars riding their original screaming 2-strokes is what makes World GP Bike Legends unique, and this second event is set to be even bigger and better. Once again the reaction from riders and collectors has been fantastic, and there will be further announcements coming very soon.
With qualifying and two flat-out races in prospect, plus the amazing opportunity to meet heroes of the period at the autograph sessions throughout the weekend, there will be plenty for the anticipated 25,000 fans to take in.
As well as the World GP Bike Legends races, there is of course a full weekend of action in store, with the incredible grid of 500cc machines dating from 1980-2000 undoubtedly providing the highlight of the show. The event will host more than 650 racers starting in over 18 classes with a mouthwatering mix of classic bikes and cars.
1987 500cc World Champion Wayne Gardner is once again leading the charge as rider ambassador, and it is expected that he will be joined by over 20 former rivals and comrades.
“We had such a brilliant time at Jerez last year, and that really was just the start! All the riders and owners have been calling me to find out what’s happening, so it’s really exciting to announce this first event of 2016 – I can’t wait to get out there again.
“Sachsenring is a brilliant circuit and will give the fans some great racing, and of course we’ll get to meet and share stories with a whole new group of people in Germany. We’ll be back out on the original bikes, but we’ve got some more exciting news in the pipeline too!”
The 2016 Sachsenring Classic with World GP Bike Legends is scheduled for June 10-12.
