WSBK 2015 Calendar – By Trevor Hedge
Australia has been confirmed to host the opening round of the 2015 FIM Superbike World Championship over the weekend of February 20-22 at Phillip Island with the release of the latest provisional WSBK 2015 calendar.
Both Superbike and Supersport categories will be making the long trip Down Under, Â it is also only these two categories, Superbike and Supersport, that then proceed to Thailand’s Chang International Circuit for round two on the weekend of March 22.
The Superstock 1000 and Superstock 600 categories join the premier series classes when the championship moves back to Europe for round three at Spain’s Motorland Aragon on April 12 which features a double header for the Superstock 600 category.
Round  four takes place at the historic TT Circuit Assen the following weekend, April 19.
Italy hosts round five at Imola on May 10 before the series heads across the Channel to Britain’s Donington Park for round six a fortnight later, May 24. The Superstock 600 category however does not make the trip across the ditch and does not return until Portugal’s wonderful Autodromo Internacional do Algarve at Portimao hosts the seventh round of the World Superbike Championship on June 7.
All classes then visit Italy’s Misano on June 21 for WSBK round eight.
The somewhat controversial Russian round of the series is set down for July 5th at Moscow Raceway, where only Superbike and Supersport categories are set to appear. Â Like the Portuguese round, and the Qatari season finale, the Russian round is subject to final contract negotiations and sign off.
America’s Laguna Seca hosts the tenth WSBK round on July 19 and is Suerbike only.
Sweltering Sepang hosts round 11 on August 2nd for both Superbike and Supersport.
Round 12 sees WSBK return to Europe and Spain, with all classes set to compete at Jerez on September 20.
France’s Magny-Cours facility lays the stage for the 13th and penultimate round of the 2014 FIM Superbike World Championship with all classes visiting the 4.4km circuit on October 4th.
Qatar’s Losail International Circuit is schedule to host the season finale on October 18th, marking the 14th and final round of the 2014 WSBK Championship.
